A red chip is worth five whites, while a blue chip is worth two, four, or five reds. To start a game, a player purchases one chip, called a “buy-in”. In most games, each player buys in with the same amount. After buying in, a player’s hand is evaluated.

The game of poker involves the application of mathematical concepts to a set of situations. As with other card games, the higher the skilled a player is, the greater his chances of winning. The highest hand is the one with the most points. The player who can combine four cards from their hand with the five cards on the table will win the game. In the event of a tie, two players will split the pot. However, if both players have identical pairs, a player will have to choose a card from his hand.
