How to Stay Safe at a Casino

Casino

The casino has many ways to attract patrons and entice them to play. The casino has internal systems to track and measure the behaviors of its customers and determine which are most appealing to them. Approximately 70 percent of casino patrons in Las Vegas use a loyalty card. Loyalty cards track information such as play time, amount betted, win rate and time of day. The data is then used to make marketing decisions. It’s no wonder that casinos spend millions on marketing to attract patrons.

Players gamble at the casino by playing games of chance and skill. Most games in a casino have mathematically determined odds so that the casino has a slight edge over players. This advantage is known as the house edge. Casinos also make money through a commission known as the rake. Comps and free drinks are also popular with customers. However, if a player becomes intoxicated while playing at the casino, he or she may not have better judgment when it comes to betting.

Some casinos have sophisticated surveillance systems to monitor casino patrons. For example, some casinos have catwalks on the ceiling of their casino floor. The cameras allow surveillance personnel to look down on patrons’ faces and behavior. Ultimately, these measures help keep the casino safe from crime. However, the casinos are still not completely safe from theft. There is always the risk that someone will try to cheat, steal or get caught. Luckily, most casinos take precautions to keep patrons and staff safe.
