The game of Poker has a long history. It was first played in the 17th century and is a game of strategy and luck. It may have originated from a French card game called poque, from which we get the word “poker.” The game eventually evolved to include a German version, pochen, and Spanish version, primero. Later, it was brought to the Americas by French settlers.<\/p>\n
Hundreds of poker variants exist. However, the rules of poker are the same in most of them. In most games, players are required to make an ante, which is an initial bet to participate in the hand. The ante is a small bet (usually around $1 or $5), which is placed before the cards are dealt to each player. During the initial round of play, players are dealt two cards. They then decide whether to bet, fold, check, match, or raise.<\/p>\n
