The name of poker comes from the French word poque, which is a variant of the German word for “card game.” The cards are ranked Ace, Queen, and Jack, and are grouped into four suits: high, low, and joker. In addition to the four suits, all poker hands consist of five cards. In some games, you can find Wild Cards, which can be of any suit. In these games, you can either use them to complete your hand or use them as a joker.<\/p>\n
The betting rounds of poker continue until all players have played at least one round. The first betting round is called the ante, and all players are dealt seven cards. When everyone has made at least one bet, another betting phase starts. The players reveal their cards clockwise around the table. Only players with the highest hand win the pot.
